First Day

The ferry trip was smooth and uneventful, although it was one hour late. We left Calais, and headed off across Belgium past Brugge and Brussels, then across the Netherlands past Maastricht. We crossed into Germany on the motorway and discovered that German drivers go really very fast. We had our little Mazda wound up to 150 Km per hour and these guys went passed us so fast. In fact at that speed you spend more time watching zour rearview mirror than the road in front.At about 7pm we decided we had enough, and pulled into a motorway motel for the night. Bratwurst and potato salad for dinner.
